Model Crush Monday – Alanna Arrington

It has been an extraordinarily life-changing year for 18 year old Alanna Arrington from Iowa.  After a breakout show season where she both opened and closed shows during her first ever fashion week, walking in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and fronting a campaign for Stella McCartney, Alanna has gone from mid-western teen to international model in a giant leap.

Scouted at a drop in go-see at age fifteen by the scouting duo of Mother Model Management, modeling had not really been on Alanna’s radar, other than comments from friends and family that she was tall and lean and it might be an option.  Her first ever trip out of the country was to London Fashion Week, following a whirlwind week in NYC doing shows.

Like many models before her, Alanna’s star turn came by way of a career-altering haircut.  Normally rocking long curls, she took a chance and let her hair be cut up to a shorter length, followed by bangs and a few more inches off, and voila, she had the look of the season that made her stand out.  Her ethnic ambiguity makes her unique and gives her broad appeal across demographics, and has quickly made her a favorite of designers, editors and photographers.

Considering all she has accomplished in such a short time, it’s hard to remember that she is just now breaking out into the model of the moment.  Almost daily, she appears in new international campaigns and editorials, and is set to be a fixture on the show circuit.   Regardless, she is still a teen at heart wanting to sing, dance, play basketball, and devour Harry Potter novels.  There is so much awaiting this beauty!  This girl is on her way.

Model Crush Monday – Emily Ratajkowski

Not all models can make the leap to acting in films and tv, but that is exactly what Emily Ratajkowski has done, doing both with enormous success, to the point where it’s hard to tell where the modeling career stops and the acting career starts.

Born in England to American parents, Emily began her career working for mass- market stores and brands before her star turn in Robin Thicke’s sexy Blurred Lines video, where she firmly established herself as a sex symbol.

Known for her perfect body she has appeared in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, GQ, FHM, Treats, and Esquire.  As a vocal advocate for women’s rights, and her willingness to express her opinions, Emily’s appeal is widespread between both men and women.

Moving quickly into acting, Emily has appeared in Maroone 5’s Move Somebody video, and movies Gone Girl, Entourage, and We are Your Friends.

Emily’s 12.1 million followers on Instagram make her one of the top celebrities on the app, where she shares not only the most enviable swimwear shots (#goals) but her personal style #moregoals), behind the scenes shots, and political statements.  Emily is a woman with an amazing body along with brains and a voice, and isn’t afraid to use any of it to achieve her goals.  Sounds like the perfect definition of a twenty first century star.

Top Instagram-worthy Swim Styles for 2017 #mostlikes #swimweargoals

Swimsuit season is here now for warm weather winter getaways, and summer just around the corner – really!  While most blogs will tell you how to shop for your body type, a lot of us just want to know what suits are the key styles for this year, to guarantee that you will look amazing and right on trend to show off how much you have been working out, or maybe to cover up what could stand a little more working out.   So here it is, the Face This Swimwear Guide for 2017 with the top swimsuit styles of the year that flatter, reveal, or conceal, and are guaranteed to give you style points on Instagram:

The black one-piece suit:  look for styling details like cutouts, laser cut scalloped edges, and ruching, for a classic look where the only fuss is in the details.

Cutouts:  a well-placed cutout can flatter a silhouette like no other swimsuit can, as it reveals almost as much as it conceals while the eye travels, following the lines along your curves.

Floral bikinis: for a luxe boho look that is high on the feminine side while steering clear of last year’s hippie styles.

Strappy-backed one-pieces:  the back is back, and this year’s best one pieces have thin straps anchoring solid colored suits without any other distracting details.

White suits are the right suits: nothing innocent about this trend - look for suits with details such as ties, scallops, and bronze embellishments for a chic, sophisticated look that says high-maintenance.

Get graphic: nothing stands out in an instagram pic like a jolt of colorful, graphic design.  Look for suits where the graphic patterns and prints are complimented by the cut of the suit.

Strappy bikini tops: look for styles with new and original strap details that elevate the standard bikini top drawing the eye to the shoulders, back, and collarbones.

The black bikini:  the best black bikinis are simple but bold in their cut and shape and have a design quality to them for maximum visual impact.
