Palette-Cleansing Pink: It’s Cherry Blossom Season in Spring Beauty

Pastels dominated on the Spring 2018 runways, with candy-colored shades worn head to toe, and with ultra-flattering hair and makeup.  While winter’s deeper tones, graphic lines and edgy hair suit cooler temperatures and a darker color palette in fashion, spring is the right time to lighten things up and soften your look, without being saccharine sweet or overly conservative.

For a more fashion forward look choose pinks and roses that are brighter, heavily pigmented, and with a matte finish.  Try a graphic liner on your eyes, or a bright pink lip.

Look for shades that are closer to your skin’s natural flush for everyday makeup, and go for softer rose tones with a more dewy finish.

Both looks suit natural waves and easy/messy updos that aren’t severe or slick.  Truly a breath of fresh air and just what we need as a palette cleanser after winter.

How to Wear the New Colorful Makeup

Now more than ever, makeup is exciting again, with so many new products, formulations and colors hitting the market just in time for spring.  In years past there were dominant looks that everyone copied….and copied, whether it suited them or not.  There has been a marked lack of originality as people cloned themselves with contour, heavy liner and lashes, and over-done eyebrows and lips, and finally the trend is swinging back into a fresh new take on beauty that is taking Instagram by storm.

The best new beauty bloggers and Instagrammers are creating amazingly colorful and bold makeup looks, and the result is so refreshing and fun.  It’s a case now of who can come up with the most original makeup without cloning, or overdoing it.  Many of these looks are infinitely wearable depending on the occasion, and by toning down certain elements, or focusing on one standout feature with color.

Here are three looks that are forward and fresh, and that can be toned down for a softer variation.  Nothing cartoony or fake about these looks, so don’t be afraid of a little color!

Spring Beauty Forecast for 2017!

The Spring 2017 runways were awash with vibrant colors and a noticeable optimism, and the makeup and hair were no exception.  There were two distinct trends and definitely something for everyone, no matter your personal style.

Easy, breezy fresh-faced beauty was shown to perfection at Tory Burch, with clean, glowing skin and neutral colors set off with air-dried natural hair – literally – what could be easier?  And prettier??  The models were made up with sheer, translucent colors that let their own beauty show through.

The eighties made a comeback with stronger, bolder colors for a dramatic flair at shows such as Victoria Beckham who collaborated with Estee Lauder on a capsule makeup collection.  Bold splashes of color playing up one feature, in this case primary colors on the eyes, kept the trend wearable.

No matter which beauty camp you fall into be prepared for a super colorful, bright, fresh, spring.   Go the natural route and keep things rosy and soft, or make a statement with vibrant slashes of color.  Either way, you will be completely on trend without being trendy.  Perfection.
